Friday morning August 21. The sun shines ... is a good sign (... well I hope!). As my flight is scheduled at 14:20, I decided to make a short but intense jogging, shower and breakfast. Back in my room, I received a phone message from Air Canada in Montreal who told me they can not issue a ticket Gander - Halifax (approx. $ 800 CDN) for my account is not replenished. Surprise! Indeed, two days ago, the previous ticket issued for $ 2,000 had been debited from my account but not credited (processing time bank). We must find a solution immediately if no trip today!
A little stress ... At the point where I am ...! A few phone calls later, I am saved: my friend and business partner Philip, I communicate the ID and his credit card transaction can finally be done. Phew!
Branch Airport. I go see my favorite customs! They put me back my passport for my departure is imminent. I spend my bag to security and a green strip, looped around the handle, valid on luggage. So far so good ... long may it continue! I am running for the Air Canada counter. Greeted by a charming hostess, she put my suitcase on the scale and asks for my ticket and my passport. She checks on her screen and a quick gesture, she removes the tape from my green bag and asked me to wait a moment (ooh la la! Is not a good sign). She returned minutes later with the manager that I mean simply that the company may take me a board for safety reasons. The sky falls again on my head! Ouch! Calmly, I explained to him that my flight schedule has been established the previous day by a representative of American Airlines and that all checks (including Air Canada) were made. No way! Nothing to do ! ... But when will they let me go home ?!... Newfoundland is a wonderful place but must not exaggerate ...
After several hours of waiting at the airport to see if the situation changes, I returned to the hotel where I wait patiently Gander new instructions of AA. Strange feeling to feel my fate hung on the goodwill of a company that will tell me what I should do ... Patience! By late afternoon, I received a fax at the hotel reception to tell me my new schedule of flights.
Departure Sunday (2 days, oh no :-( same route: Gander - Halifax - New York - Paris with Paris arrival Tuesday, August 25 morning. It is not possible! What have I so "attractive" for they keep me so long? ... My relatives warned that third flight plan, I decided to go to sleep, morale in the socks ...
