Awakened at 7:00 am, I decide to jog, to decompress! It's pouring, but it's so good! ... in wet, wet outside! Along the Trans Canada Highway for 3 km, I walk around with an admirable little lake, Cobb's pound (here they call it a pond: 3 km perimeter anyway!) And back to the hotel.
But first we must "point" to the police station RCMP. So a taxi to take me there. A policeman I present a form where it indicates the time of my visit. I am signing.
I still have a little time before going to court and I think back to the cell guard who took me yesterday in a car in the hotel. It gives a helping hand in a souvenir shop run by his family and he personalizes gifts souvenirs by engraving on glass or wood (frame, pen holders, key). Can bring their own photos and burn them on different media. Classic but fun! So I bought some gifts for my loved ones (family and friends) on which I burn this fateful date of Aug. 15 in remembrance of the moral support they have given me in this event. For that I am forever grateful.
I then walked to the court which is only a few hundred meters away. I meet my lawyer, Ray and a pretty young reporter for CBC Radio, Jessica, who wants to interview me about my story. It would be the first person to have my story ... I told him that the deliberations had not yet taken place and I will answer his questions after the verdict.
few moments later Ray invited me to follow him in a courtroom, different from yesterday. Same scenario, once the judge penetrates into this place, everyone gets up (as in the pub, but not for the same reasons!). The hearing is open, everyone comes out a plea:
- federal and provincial prosecutors and support that load where it hurts (no easy job!). Yes, I am conscious of having been scared passengers and crew (... which I think would still have tried to communicate), and I regret sincerely
- the lawyer who runs my life thanks the evidence submitted by my daughter and my friends in office - 40 fax pages to say who I am! - Engineer in international companies, technical director in a company American, the New York marathon, finally a good guy in every respect (I Stop! ankles that swell!), but Ray does not forget to plead guilty (which entitles me to keep quiet!)
- and the judge sermon containing the charges against me, today announced the award definitely something: 10-year ban on Canadian territory and $ 32,000 fine (U.S. $ 22,000 for the airline and $ 10,000 CDN for the Canadian justice) .
And here the case is closed. Wrap it weighed! Disproportionality? Mismatch? Dear
paid anyway!
Some think not, but I invite them to spend 3 days in solitary and pay the fine in question, and I ask the question: "adding salt, do not you think ?!..."
I have a bitter taste in the head, a feeling of misunderstanding ... injustice ?!... a feeling of waste of time and energy. Finally, forgive you, Patrick, looking forward! It is done. Bounce ... Not easy because I lost a little of my strength! Go courage!
On leaving the courtroom, two customs officers want me to ask some questions. Well, yes, on arrival I went directly to box in prison, without stopping at customs box!
I sign some papers being prepared by the Registry and I then rejoin their offices at the airport. In the meantime, I found Jessica with her microphone and tape recorder, which invites me to tell him my story. The interview lasted about fifteen minutes and it tells me it will probably be tomorrow morning on CBC local news. I took leave of the blonde girl. And after retrieving my file with the Registry (... surprised to note that even the fine payable to the airline must be paid within 4 months - as the fine for the Canadian justice), I took a taxi to the airport ... The episode
local judiciary is now finished, it will have to consider returning to the fold! I am free, but certainly not completely free: my passport is still in the hands of Canadian authorities and my PC, PDA, Ecogyzer the hands of the RCMP ... Continued ...
